Fall 2022 Homecoming
CSU’s student, faculty, and staff celebrate homecoming this fall with variety of events
Each fall, current CSU students, alumni, faculty, and staff gather to celebrate Homecoming in commemoration of CSU and its community. This year’s homecoming events began Sept. 26 and ended Oct. 1, welcoming the fall season with many entertaining and engaging events.
During Homecoming Week, sponsored by Student Life and Development, students were able to attend a variety of fun events designed to build a sense of community, including Paint the Town, a hot wing contest, and a block party.
Homecoming Week started with Paint the Paws on Main Campus, while students on the Riverpark campus participated in Paint the Town. During the events, students, faculty, and staff showcased their university pride and decorated windows to celebrate CSU.
The official commencement of the Homecoming season began Sept. 26 with the Homecoming Kickoff event, which was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students who attended the event enjoyed free food, music, games, snow cones, and giveaways as they interacted with other students from a variety of majors.
On Sept. 28, Student Life and Development held the Fun in the Sun Field Day event. During the event, students relived childhood memories as they played and competed in field day games such as tug of war, sack races, and relay races.
Students gathered to watch the Downtown Domination CSU Parade Uptown Concert on Sept. 30, beginning at 6:45. Floats and marching bands filled the streets of Uptown Columbus, bringing music, candy, and campus pride to cheering crowds.
“I enjoy homecoming and seeing the parade floats pass by,” stated Angelica Acosta, a senior in Early Education. “I like feeling apart of a community and seeing students come together.”
The events of the week closed on Oct. 1 with an entertaining movie by the river. Students brought friends and blankets to the Phenix City Amphitheater to watch an 8:30 p.m. showing of “Jurassic World: Domination.
Homecoming events brought students, faculty, staff, and alumni together in celebration of CSU. The excitement of the week closed out the month of September and set the tone for October’s combination of midterm exams and Halloween spirit.
