We are about three months and some change into Donald Trump’s presidency, and already the crap has hit the fan. Trump (I will not be referring to him as the president because a president wouldn’t do things to purposely hurt the citizens of America) has made cuts to many government programs that benefit marginal groups, such as teachers. The sad part is that some teachers voted for Trump, yet they love their students so much. Those who are a part of MAGA voted to hurt people, but now we are in the climate that those who voted for this felon are finding out that he clearly doesn’t care for them or their well-being. Now, onto businesses: We are going to be talking about the historical context and the difference between democracy and fascism. I have two talking points, so let’s take a deep dive.
Historical context:
I think the best comparison of fascism vs. democracy would be Germany under Hitler. I say that because he was a dictator, he hated marginalized groups and discriminated against them, and he also used censorship. Censorship is when people in power censor or hide media that could make them look bad.
Why is this significant?
This is significant because in America, after the TikTok ban and the TikTok comeback, many users in America found that they saw no coverage of the fires in Los Angeles or any worldwide coverage of any other countries outside America’s reaction to America’s political climate. The censorship was so widespread that we had no idea that other countries were worried about American citizens. They realize the signs of dictatorship, and they want us to be free.
Fascism vs. Democracy:
In America, we know that the First Amendment protects freedom of speech, so why are the American people being censored and silenced? The one thing about it is that this is unconstitutional. Those who are a part of the MAGA cult do not understand that they voted to hurt others but also to hurt themselves. When Donald Trump signed an executive order to defund health programs, MAGA supporters failed to realize that Medicaid is for them. Most people who benefit from government funded health programs are those who reside in poorer areas and red states. For instance, in Trump’s campaign, he says, “Make America great again.” America was never great when other people were being mistreated and discriminated against. Trump has already detained and sent immigrants both illegal and legal U.S. citizens to detainment camps in places that they are not from. What kind of president does that? A president doesn’t do that at all. That is corruption and, on top of that, Trump wants a third term which is just the cherry on top. In the United States Constitution — specifically the 22nd amendment — it states that a president may only serve two terms. Donald J. Trump is the most power-hungry, corruption-filled, racist, badly built butch body so-called president the United States has seen. Now, when we look at the things he has done that scream corruption, Trump has participated in mass deportation of illegal and legal immigrants. The Trump Administration has deported an American citizen to El Salvador, and they have no intention of fixing this so-called “mistake.” Trump has also endorsed private brands like Tesla, which the president is not supposed to do, as well as bribing states for votes. Trump has also pulled the Unites States into multiple trade wars with Mexico, Canada, and China. Trump has also tried to revoke birthright citizenship, which is unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.
Democracy, in my opinion, Is O.F.R.S.
Opportunity
Freedom
Resilience
Strength
If we restore democracy, that means we protect our citizens, which is so important because that’s what this country is built on.
The people of America deserve much more — scratch that, the children and adults of the future deserve more. Housing should not be an arm and a leg, the stock market shouldn’t be crashing, and the economy shouldn’t be in jeopardy. Our kids are important, their futures are important to us, being the new adults entering the work force, and we are suffering. I just hope that all these convictions stop Trump and Musk once and for all. The only way all of this is going to end is if we band together to continue to boycott and protest and vote in local elections.
