COLUMBUS, Ga. – On the morning of April 9, students, teachers, and members of WRBL and CSU administration gathered to cut the ribbon on the new WRBL Uptown Bureau.
Located in classroom 280 at One Arsenal Place on Front Avenue, the bureau serves as a place for students to see broadcast news take place in real time.
“They get to see the news being made,” said university president Dr. Stuart Rayfield, “It is a learning lab that should be an opportunity for every student in every degree.”
In addition to opening the bureau, Dr. Danna Gibson, Chair of the CSU Communication Department, announced the start of the Professional in Residence program.
“Internships and practicums are designed to bring students to the professionals,” said Dr. Gibson. “This program brings the professionals to the students.”
The first person to take on the role is Journalist Chuck Williams of WRBL. Williams brings with him 30 years of experience covering news and sports in Columbus and hopes to share that knowledge with the students at CSU.
