Hello readers,
The Uproar staff has been hard at work this month to bring you both campus news and Halloween fun.
There were multiple events this month centered on students’ mental health. Ashley Adamian spoke to event organizers and covered them here. The Cougars End Suicide Walk aimed to improve awareness about mental health crises and the resources available to struggling students. RAINN day also aimed to raise awareness about sexual abuse in the community and the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network of resources to help.
Academically, CSU’s library has expanded to include the Art Research Library, which previously operated as a small independent collection. Hundreds of books about art and art history are now recorded in the CSU library system, improving the research experience and streamlining library borrowing and returns. I spoke with Tom Ganzevoort, ARL librarian, to bring you more information.
CSU students come from all over the world. In this issue, Vinh Huynh, who is from Vietnam himself, interviewed international students and covered their struggles, hopes, and lives. Vinh also wrote about the changes of the iPhone over time, reflecting on his growth alongside technology.
The Uproar staff has always been enthusiastic about Halloween. This year, we collaborated to create a special cover featuring staff members. Both illustrators and writers drew themselves and others in Halloween costumes, which our graphic designer Finch Vasquez then incorporated into the cover art. Ashley Adamian also wrote a spooky story, illustrated by Eli Schmidt with a ghost that looks very familiar to me…
As always, thank you for checking out our work. We hope you enjoy!
Best,
Nick Miller
