CSU’s Communications Department is moving buildings. Prior, the Communications Department was located at the Carpenter’s Building on the Riverpark Campus. The department will be relocated to One Arsenal Place on the Riverpark Campus.
Previously, One Arsenal Place had been used as student housing, but now it is transitioning over to being the home of CSU’s Communications Department.
One Arsenal Place has three floors. The undergraduate and graduate classes would be on the first floor. The second floor would house all of the studios that communication students work with, including the production studio, radio, podcast studio, and the WRBL XStar media news bureau. Lastly, the offices for the communications department would be on the third floor.
Currently, the second floor is still under renovation. The renovations will be done by the end of July or start of August.
Dr. Gibson, the Communications Department Chair, shared her enthusiasm for the new location.
“This space is going to allow us to better put on display what we do and what we do well,” Dr. GIbson said.
One Arsenal Place will allow Communication Students the same facilities and opportunities that the Carpenter’s Building did, including the ability to work with journalists and digital media content creators through internships.
Students from the Communications Department often get hired into degree-value jobs because of these partnerships, and this will continue with the development of the new location.
Students should expect to find the same level of engagement with their courses as well.
Dr. Gibson shared that the new building is “an impressive blueprint that reflects what we do and what we are.”
Dr. Gibson also offered kudos to the logistics team, including Steve Morris, the Assistant Vice President of University Operations.
“They made the move as seamless as possible,” Dr. Gibson praised.
